Contact us by phone or online for census support

Our contact centre is available to support you by phone between 8am and 10pm, seven days a week. They will be there for even longer hours closer to Census Day, Tuesday 7 March 2023.

They can support you with:

  • questions about doing the census.
  • questions about what we ask in the census.
  • requests for new access codes
  • requests for paper forms
  • requests to have a Census Collector visit your dwelling
  • any general census queries.

Get face-to-face support to complete your census forms

You can get face-to-face support to complete your census forms at community places and events throughout Aotearoa New Zealand, or online.

You may see these referred to sometimes as "assisted completion locations" or "assisted completion events".

Trained staff at these places and events can:

  • answer your questions about the census
  • provide you internet access and a device to complete your forms online
  • help you order paper forms
  • help you understand your census forms
  • support you to answer the questions in your census forms.
